New Year, Same Me
Posted: February 4, 2026
I have returned once more!
First of all, happy belated new year's to my dearest readers. I hope 2026 has been better for most of you so far than 2025 was, that year was certainly a doozy.
I kinda feel bad about my consistently inconsistent posting schedule, but I also know that this is my site and I am not obligated to post when I don't feel like it. It's not even that I don't feel like it though, it's just that I have trouble actually writing about stuff that has happened or is happening once I sit down in front of vim.
Anyways, like many people when the big number gets even bigger, I decided to commit myself to making improvements to my life. So far, these efforts have not materialized exactly as planned, but they have materialized, which is a win in my book. I've been following Beej's Guide to C Programming as a personal learning endeavor, and it's been pretty fun so far! I've also just been trying to be more productive and less distracted in my life.
By "productive", I don't mean profitable, I mean constructively engaged with whatever it is that I'm doing. Conflating those two things can do a number on your sense of self worth, so don't.
I've also been listening to a bit more music lately. I've been really into Geese and Cameron Winter lately. Right now, I've got the latter's "Love Takes Miles" stuck in my head, the music video for which is really incredible.
Things are going well with the wife, now that you mention it! :>
Also yes, the site has been redesigned once more, even though I don't like letting myself do that constantly, I had grown unhappy with the previous layout as well as the actual structure of the website, so I figured I'd allow myself just this once.
Apologies for the very rough and disjointed blog post, it's my first one back and I just want to get into the swing of writing them again. Something I've really taken to heart lately is that it's better to do something than to hold yourself to some standard of perfection and never get anything done, so this is me doing something.
Take care, friends.
